From 2022 to 2024, the global shortage of integrated circuit production has highlighted the importance of integrated circuits. A key feature of contemporary integrated circuits is their packaging. Similar to connection-type PCB, they require specialized substrates.
Therefore, we need to understand why substrates are an essential part of the integrated circuit structure.
Integrated Circuit Substrates (or IC packaging substrates) are the base materials for IC packaging. In addition to protecting bare IC, they facilitate the connection between the IC and the PCB's circuitry network. Thus, substrates greatly influence circuit performance.
They are composed of multiple layers. Moreover, IC substrates contain drilled holes and a conductor network. Generally, these IC-mounted PCB exceed the complexity of traditional PCB. Therefore, their manufacturing requires high technical demands.
